Discover Great Hidden Wine Bars in Pisa
Uncover the Wine Hidden Gems of Pisa and their Unique Wines to Sip and Enjoy! You may know Pisa for its world-famous leaning tower but with its wine bars, Pisa can offer you more than that. Chances are if you find yourself in Pisa it will be to visit Piazza dei Miracoli, the iconic marble-white in town. But, hey, make sure don’t leave without paying a visit to one (of several) of Pisa’s excellent wine bars!
Pisa is a small place, it’s easy to walk around and get lost in its city centre. Unfortunately, visitors tend to pop by to visit the Leaning Tower and leave as soon as that mission is accomplished.
But if you make it all the way here, go on and reserve a day or two to enjoy this little town. With its big university and young population, Pisa is full of bars.
If you love wine, a great way to enjoy this town is to venture around. Then end up sitting at one of my favourite wine bars in Pisa. Here is a guide to help you decide where to start from!
Stop number 1 - Duende
One of the places that you should drop by is Duende. Not too far from the Tower, this tiny bar offers a great selection of natural wines. Here you’ll find bottles from all around Italy and some international labels too. It’s the perfect spot for a pleasant evening alone or with friends. It’s perfect to come for sipping a glass of wine, picking a unique bottle or snacking your time away.
As said, Duende is small but there is a lovely terrace, perfect to enjoy Italian indulgent weather. Another plus is the staff: very knowledgable and easy-going, ready to guide you through the many bottles they offer. Finally, let’s not forget the food. At Duende, they offer a small but refined selection of snacky plates to make sure wine doesn’t land on an empty stomach. From local cold cuts and cheeses to vegetarian plates and preserved fish they got your cravings covered! So, Yeah, if you’re looking for an easygoing wine bar where to try an unusual, natural wine (or several), visit Duende. Its wine selection and lovely atmosphere won’t disappoint you!
You can find Duende at Via Curtatone e Montanara 26, Pisa, Italy…
Stop number 2 - Il Magazzino
On a side road of Pisa’s main street, Borgo Stretto, you’ll find Il Magazzino, a stylish little wine bar and restaurant. Il Magazzino too focuses on natural wines, Italian and French labels mainly.
The wine list here is extensive and available in printed form. Yet you can simply explain to the owners what you are after. I promise you they will help you pick a wine you’ll love.
Apart from an amazing selection of wine, Il Magazzino also offers a nice food menu. Oh yes, you can easily spend the evening here and not get hungry. The open kitchen is tiny and only the two owners are there to serve. This sometimes means you may have to wait to get served but with lovely wine in your glass, even the wait is very enjoyable!
You’ll find Il Magazzino at via Mercanti 9, Pisa, Italy…
Stop number 3 - Pane e Vino
Set on the south bank of the Arno river, on a lively car-free square is Pane e Vino. This restaurant/wine bar has great labels, mainly local and Italian. Concerning the other venues, Pane e Vino has a bigger food menu and offers hot plates as well as snacks and cold bites.
Pane e Vino overlooks Piazza Giambacorti or Piazza della Pera as locals call it. Here, no cars are allowed and when the weather is nice it is full of children playing. So Pane e Vino can be a great plan for parents with babies. Come here to fulfil your wine and food needs and have your children running around and playing a few meters away. Family time perfection!
You’ll fine Pane e Vino at Piazza Chiara Gambacorti 7, Pisa, Italy….
So next time you visit Pisa don’t leave without wine tasting!
You are spoiled for choice here.
And in all fairness, you don’t have to choose… just pick the order you want to explore these wine bars in Pisa!
