Retsina
Retsina is a Greek traditional wine fermented in amphora with pine resin. Its production dates back over 2000 years and is thought to have originated from the ancient practice of sealing wine vessels, especially amphorae, with Aleppo Pine resin.
Retsina nowadays has a rather bad fame. That of a cheap drink causing a pretty hard core hangover.
Malamatina
Malamatina is probably the most well known Greek retsina. At 1,60 euros for a 500 ml bottle, it is consumed in huge quantities by tourists and is surely responsible for thousands of hangovers every year!
