Quinta do Porto Nogueira "Berbereta Brut Natural Frizzante " 2017

Arinto / Chardonnay
A sparkling - charmat method white wine from the Lisboa VR region of Portugal.

Mineral & elegant. Wet stone & yellow plum.

Tasting Notes

Berbereta Brut Natural Frizzante 2017 from Quinta do Porto NOgueira hasa golden colour and fine persistent beam.

On the nose it is very elegant with great minerality to bring you back to the Atlantic coast where it’s from. But Berbereta Brut Natural Frizzante 2017 is also rich and juicy with ripe stone fruit notes.

On the mouth it’s fresh and lively with great acidity and sapid, mineral notes.

The finish is long and lovely.

Quinta do Porto Nogueira

The Quinta do Porto Nogueira was founded in 1738, in the first half of the 18th century, and was always in the possession of the same family until the second half of the 20th century. The current owners acquired it at the beginning of this 21st century. The estate’s 20 hectares of vineyards are planted in clay soils, marked by the influence of the natural microclimate of the foothills of the Serra de Todo-o-Mundo and by the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, about 20 km away. A vineyard without irrigation that gathers unique characteristics, an unequalled freshness, and the bearer of a natural salinity.

Lisboa VR

Lisboa, previously known as Estremadura, is a Portuguese wine region that occupies the same territory as Estremadura and is named after the country’s capital. The region is designated as a Vinho Regional (VR), which is similar to a vin de pays region in France. Although the Beiras and Alentejo VRs are the largest geographically, the Lisboa region produces the most wine by volume in Portugal. The area extends from Lisbon to the Bairrada DOC along the Atlantic coast.

Chardonnay

Green-skinned grape variety used in wine production

Chardonnay is a grape variety with a green skin that is used to make white wine. The grape variety originated in eastern France’s Burgundy wine region, but it is now grown all over the world, from England to New Zealand. Growing Chardonnay is seen as a rite of passage for new and emerging wine regions, as well as an easy entry into the international wine market.
