Ricci Curbastro "Pinot Noir Sebino IGT" 2012

100% Pinot noir
A still red wine from the Tuscany region of Italy.

Fresh with soft tannins. Raspberry, leather, graphite, vanilla.

Tasting Notes

The 2012 Pinot Noir Sebino IGT from Ricci Curbastro has an attractive ruby colour with tawny hues.

On the nose it opens with raspberry and red fruit, leather, graphite. Vanilla is also very present, dominant I would say and reveals the 18 months the 2012 Pinot Noir Sebino IGT from Ricci Curbastro spends in French barriques.

The mouthfeel is pleasant, tannins are soft. The freshness is more present that I would have expected from the nose. Notes of red berries and vanilla come across on the palate too.

The wine is incredibly dinkable although, in my opinion, the strong vanilla-y character of the wine takes away from the elegance that I seek in Pinot Noir.

Pinot noir

Red wine grape variety

Pinot noir is a type of red wine grape that belongs to the Vitis vinifera genus. It’s also probable that the name refers to wines produced mainly from Pinot noir grapes. The name comes from the words “pine” and “black” in French. The name pine refers to the grape variety’s tightly clustered, pine cone-shaped fruit bunches.
