Calogero Caruana "Vino Bianco" 2018
100% InzoliaStructured and complex. Pink grapefruit, walnut, fig leaf, hay...
Tasting Notes
Calogero Caruana Vino Bianco 2018 has a bright orange colour, reminiscent of a brandy.
On the nose it marries fresh notes of pink grapefruit and pomelo, with a rich dried apricot and softer notes of fig leaf, walnut, hay, wet pebbles.
The mouthfeel is warm, dry, cleansing with an integrated freshness that tingles on the mouth.
On the palate Calogero wine is nutty and sapid. There is also a (somewhat surprising) floral note (rose?) before it closes with more nutty notes.
The finish is medium long and pleasant.
How it's made
Unfiltered. Minimal Intevention. Wild fermented.
The grapes are harvested in two parts. One is fermented in stainless steel with the flor. The second is left in contact with the skins from 3 to 10 days, it’s then pressed and transfered to ferment in partially filled, used barriques. The grapes spend here one year. After that the two halves are mixed and bottled. The wine spends in bottle another year before being released.
